College Visitation Rules & Information

Students must meet with the counselor prior to setting up a college visitation day.  This form must be signed by a parent/guardian and by the teachers of the classes that will be missed.  Upon submission, an administrator will approve the visit.  Click here to access the form.

It is the student’s responsibility to get assignments and talk with his / her teachers.  If a student is absent the day before a scheduled college visit, the student will not be allowed to take the college day.  The day will need to be rescheduled.  Students will be allowed one (2) college visit their Junior year and two (2) their Senior year, unless they are going for a scholarship interview.  All students are encouraged to attend the pre-arranged college visitation days organized by the universities.  All schools have these weekend events and prefer that students visit on these dates.  You can find these dates online through any university’s admissions office.  If more days are needed, parent notes could be used, or these days will count as an unexcused absence.

2024-2025 Scholarships

The Elks National Foundation Scholarship                                 ADDED 9/5/24

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2025 competition. Male and female students compete separately.  

Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. 

Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks.
High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.

All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.

VU - Jasper Scholastic Excellence Award Scholarship                                        ADDED 9/10/24  

The SEA Scholarship is a one-year scholarship that provides students full tuition (up to 15 credit hours per term), $500 VJU Bookstore voucher (per term), and a laptop.

Requirements:
- Class of 2025 Graduate
- Weighted GPA of 3.5 or above
- Apply for admission to VU-Jasper by January 15, 2025
- Accepted into the University by priority deadline of March 1, 2025
- Must complete FAFSA by April 15, 2025
- Must qualify for in-state tuition rate.

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM                                        ADDED 9/16/24

The Knights of Pythias Academic Awards Committee is announcing scholarship opportunities for Class of 2025 graduating seniors.  30 -$1,000 scholarships will be awarded.  

indianapythias.org (Complete the public version of the application unless you are a member or related to a member of the Knights of Pythias or Pythian Sisters, then you will use the respective member application).  A copy of your transcript and essay (600 words or less) is required.

DUCKS UNLIMITED SCHOLARSHIP                                           Added 10/1/24

To be eligible for the Ducks Unlimited Scholarship, students must meet criteria, including academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and a demonstrated commitment to conservation.  There are over 60 scholarships available ranging from $500 - $10,000.  Detailed information about the application process, eligibility requirements, and deadlines can be found at www.ducks.org/scholarship

INDIANA SENIOR BETA SCHOLARSHIP                           IAdded 10/2/24

The Indiana Beta Council is offering scholarship opportunities of $1,000 and (2) $500 to Indiana Beta Club members.  All applications must be turned in to the Guidance Office by Oct. 21st to be considered - only 2 applicants can be selected to be sent to the review council. Next Generation Hoosier Educator Scholarship                            Added 10/2/24


The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is currently accepting applications for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, which provides up to $40,000 of financial aid to aspiring teachers.  This is a renewable opportunity.

High-achieving high school and college students who plan to teach in Indiana for at least five years can receive up to $10,000 per year of college (up to $40,000 total) from the scholarship. Students must apply by January 31, 2025, at ScholarTrack.IN.gov.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must meet one of the following academic requirements:

  • Rank in the top 20% of their high school graduating class OR
  • Have a top 20th percentile score on the ACT (25) or SAT (1110) OR
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Hagan Scholarship Foundation Date Added: 10/18/2023

The purpose of the Hagan Scholarship is to provide each recipient with the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education and graduate debt-free.   

Requirements: 
     - must attend and be a student in an eligible public high school graduating class
     - must have achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher
     - must enroll at an eligible four year college or university the fall semester after graduation
     - must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college
     - Applicant's Adjusted Household Income reported for Federal Income Tax Purposes must not exceed $85,000

GILL-WEDDING ORTHODONTICS SCHOLARSHIP    DATE ADDED 1/11/2024

Gill-Wedding Orthodontics is offering 2 nonrenewable $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are in treatment or have completed treatment with Dr. Gill or Dr. Wedding.  Applications will be accepted from graduating seniors planning to attend an institution of higher learning for at least one year.  All applicants must have a GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or a 3.75 on a 6.0 scale at the end of senior fall semester for consideration.  Recipients will be determined based on essays, academic achievement, and participation in school and community activities.

Liberty Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program - Ted Hitch        DATE ADDED: 1/11/2024

Liberty Federal Credit Union is continuing the Ted Hitch Scholarship Program.  Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded in the Spring of 2024.  Ten awards will be given to graduating high school seniors.  

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    *Applicant or applicant's parents/guardians must be a member of LFCU for at least 18 months prior to February 24, 2024 application deadline.  

    *Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the fall semester

    *The use of at least 3 LFCU services is required by the student or parent (in section 1 of application)

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides 4 scholarship opportunities for high-achieving high school and college students planning to teach in the state of Indiana for at least 5 years with the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $10,000 each year for four academic years.

The application for this scholarship is open. Bally’s Evansville Project 21 Scholarship Program      DATE ADDED: 1/11/2024

Project 21 is an educational program designed to communicate the consequences associated with under-aged gambling.  Submissions will specifically address the subject of deterring young people from engaging in underage gambling or on the social and/or legal ramifications of underage gambling.  3 - $2,000 scholarships will be awarded.

JAY LAMPTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP         ADDED 1/11/24

$1,000 Scholarship for graduating seniors with a 2.0 Cumulative GPA who have been enrolled in technology courses during high school and planning to pursue education at the Lincoln College of Technology (formerly Nashville Auto Diesel College) or other institution of higher education seeking a degree in a technical field.  Preference will be given to applicants expressing an interest in auto mechanics.

Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program    Added  1/17/2024

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensing of funds to provide college scholarships to qualified students who are committed to pursuing an education and career in the law enforcement field.

The general qualifications for applicants are:

  • An Indiana resident
  • Committed to pursuing an education and career in a law enforcement field at an Indiana college or university
  • A current member of the Association, or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours).

Indiana Senior Scholarship Program & Student-View Scholarship Program                    Added 1/18/2024

The 2024 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering over $14,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school.  

The program includes:

  • One $10,000 scholarship
  • Two $1,000 scholarships
  • Five $500 scholarships.

All Indiana seniors who apply for the Student-View Scholarship will automatically be entered into the drawing for the new $500 Indiana Senior Scholarship.

Play for Kate, Inc. is pleased to offer an academic collegiate scholarship to graduating Seniors, having a GPA of 3.0, and is enrolled full time.

Requirements include:

  • Three letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or other adult who is not an immediate relative
  • Letter of acceptance to an accredited college
  • Copy of high school transcript
  • Community involvement is crucial.

  • EDUCATOR SCHOLARSHIP – Public high school senior who plans to pursue a degree in education and who is a dependent of a current ISTA member.
  • JUSTINE M. HARRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Public high school senior who plans to pursue a degree in education.
  • LOUIS B. RUSSELL SCHOLARSHIP – Ethnic minority Indiana public high school senior who plans to attend an accredited postsecondary institution to pursue industrial arts, vocational education, or technical preparation.

All of the above are $1,000 renewable scholarships.

ISTA Foundation Scholarships

ISTA members may nominate eligible students for the following scholarships.

NOTE: The ISTA member should complete the nomination form, not the student.

  • ISTA FOUNDATION DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP ($700) – Public high school senior who is a child, stepchild, grandchild or step grandchild of a current ISTA member.

Eligible students may apply for the following scholarships.

NOTE:  The student will need to have their ISTA member parent/grandparent/guardian information (Name, Address, Email, ISTA Member Number/ID, Local Association Name) when applying for this scholarship.

ISTA FOUNDATION RETIRED SCHOLARSHIP ($2,500) – Public high school senior who is a child, stepchild, grandchild, step grandchild or legal dependent of a current ISTA member.

ISTA BIPOC Aspiring Educator members may apply for the following scholarships.

ANN WILKINS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000) – BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, (and) People of Color) current Aspiring Educator ISTA member who is in a full-time practicum experience pursuing licensure in education in any Indiana Approved Educator Preparation Program and plans to pursue employment in a public school system in Indiana.

The American Society for Quality (ASQ) Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915 is pleased to announce the offering of a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who is enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student to an accredited college or university, or trade school with an established student account.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS OF ECS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS

  • Possess a 3.3. cumulative GPA from high school
  • Plan to enroll in either electrical engineering, electrical technology, computer engineering, or computer technology immediately upon high school graduation
  • Must be a permanent resident of Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh or Warrick County in Indiana or Warren County in Kentucky

2024 KYLE HARROP MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP          ADDED 2/1/2024

The Kyle Harrop Memorial Scholarship is pleased to announce a one-time award scholarship opportunity of $1,000 for graduating seniors. 

The scholarship recipient will:

  • Be a student at an IASP Department of Student Programs member school;
  • Have participated in one of the following Dept. of Student Activities programs while in high school:  Academic Spell Bowl, Academic Super Bowl, and/or Academic Quiz Bowl.
  • Enter and attend Purdue University, West Lafayette, as an admitted student in Fall 2024;
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a school employee;
  • Submit an official school transcript;
  • List any additional scholarships you are receiving, etc.
  • Submit a short essay, up to 250 words, on the affect music in general, or a specific piece of music, has impacted you throughout your life, or during a specific moment of your life;
  • Provide information regarding your participation in extracurricular activities, community service, and employment.
  • Please include a brief paragraph to address how this scholarship will assist you in attending Purdue University, West Lafayette.

The Wanderer’s Trade School Scholarship Fund    ADDED 2/7/2024

The Wanderers are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit motorcycle riding club located in Mt. Vernon, IN who share the love of riding and giving back to the people in our communities.  Each year a scholarship is presented to a tri-state student interested in pursuing a career in a trade.

E’ville Iron Street Rods, Ltd. is pleased to offer a $3,000.00 scholarship to seniors enrolled in Auto Body or Auto/Diesel Mechanics classes who plan to continue their education in the automotive area, such as mechanics, auto body work, or diesel mechanics.

Knights of Columbus Rockport Council        Date Added: 04/28/2024

Knights of Columbus Rockport Council will be awarding a $500 scholarship/award based on Faith, Leadership, and Educational Goals achieved during the student's academic life.  Qualifications for this scholarship are for those who plan to pursue full time academic or vocational education.  Only students who graduate from high school or home school in the current year or its related equivalent may apply.  Applicants must also be related to a KC member (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.).  Applications are accepted between May 1 and May 30.

Indiana State University's Scott College of Business awards students interested in careers in risk management, insurance and financial services. 

Scholars are offered support in the amount of:
     - $9,000 per year (valued at over $36,000 over four years)
     - $3,000 professional development account (may be used for study abroad and/or other leadership purposes)

Eligible students must meet at least two of the three following qualifications:
     - Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

The Networks Scholarship, created through a grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., is for students studying for a career in business and financial services - all majors in the Scott College of Business are eligible.

The Knights of Pythias Sholarship Date Added: 11/28/2022

The Knights of Pythias of Indiana, a fraternal Order founded in 1864, is offering a minimum of 12 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to selected graduating seniors who meet the criteria:

     -must be a senior in any high school or home school and a resident of Indiana
     -must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above; must provide transcript
     -must be registered in accredited college or university with proof of registration prior to disbursement of funds if you are a                      winner
     -application must be postmarked on or before January 25, 2022 to be eligible

Gill Orthodontics Scholarship Date Added: 01/10/2023

Gill Orthodontics will be awarding 2 - nonrenewable $1000 scholarships.  Applicants must be in treatment or have completed treatment by Dr. James Gill, D.D.S. and be a graduating senior with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of their senior fall semester.  Recipients will be determined based on essays, academic achievement, and participation in school and community activities.

Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. Eligible: Public high school seniors who are dependents of current ISTA members

This scholarship is open to students actively pursuing a degree in education who are dependents of ISTA members. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually with an option to renew for three consecutive years.

Damon P. Moore Scholarship

Eligible: Minority, Indiana public high school seniors

This scholarship is open to a minority public high school senior who plans to pursue a teaching certificate. The scholarship was named for Damon P. Moore, an African-American educator, who served three terms as ISTA president and continues to be a positive role model for young minorities aspiring to enter the education field. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually with an option to renew for three consecutive years.

Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. Eligible: Public high school seniors pursuing a degree in education (renewable for three years)

This scholarship is open to a public high school senior pursuing a degree in education. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded for a total of four years if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA enrolled in an education curriculum at an accredited college or university in Indiana. Applicants for the need-based scholarship must also meet the income criteria of at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line.

Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement, submission of an essay and recommendations and financial need. A seven-semester transcript is required to complete application process. Application deadline is March 1 with the scholarship awarded in July.

Louis B. Russell Scholarship

Eligible: Minority, Indiana public high school seniors

This scholarship is open to a minority public high school senior who plans to pursue industrial arts, vocational education or technical preparation at an accredited post-secondary institution. This scholarship was named for Louis Russell, an African-American industrial arts educator, who acquired international recognition as the world’s longest-living heart transplant patient. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually with an option to renew for one consecutive year.

Applicants must be a minority pursuing education in the vocational arts and a graduate of the class of the current year entering a fully-accredited postsecondary institution as a freshman. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. A seven-semester transcript is required to complete application process. Application deadline is March 1 with the scholarship awarded in July.

This scholarship is open to graduates of a public high school in December or May/June of the school year of application who had at least a C average, plan to participate in a formal accredited training program in the fall (apprenticeship, trade school, cosmetology, etc.) or attend a two- to four-year accredited college or university and are the children or grandchildren (stepchildren and step grandchildren qualify) of an ISTA member. The applicant does not need to have attended high school in the same district in which the ISTA member teaches, nor live with the ISTA member.

ISTA Foundation contributes to the scholarships that are awarded locally. All nominations for retired scholarship should be submitted by April 1 and will be sent to the Retired Scholarship Committee for consideration. Scholarship checks are mailed or presented to the scholarship awardees by July.

Indiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship Date Added: 01/17/2023

The Indiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensing of funds to provide college scholarships to qualified students who are committed to pursuing an education and career in the law enforcement field.  This year, the association will be awarding forty (40) $750 scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing an education and career in the criminal justice field.  

The general qualifications for applicants are:
     - be an Indiana resident
     - committed to pursuing an education and career in a law enforcement field at an Indiana College or University
     - be a current member of the association, or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association
     - must enroll as a full-time student (12 hours)

ASQ Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915 Scholarship Date Added: 01/20/2023

The American Society for Quality (ASQ) Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915 is offering a $500 scholarship to a high school senior graduating in their Section area.  
Purpose: to assist a student who plans to attend an accredited two or four-year college program or accredited Technical School. 

Eligibility:
     - recipient must be a graduate during the application year from a home school, an accredited high school or learning facility within the geographic area served by ASQ Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915, or either of whose parents are members of the ASQ.
     - scholarship will be awarded to the person selected by the Selection Committee, independent of any connection with ASQ membership (you and your family member(s) do not have to be a member of ASQ to be awarded).
     - to receive the scholarship amount, the recipient must be admitted to or enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student to an accredited college/university, with an establishe student account.  
     - in the event the selected recipient becomes ineligible, the scholarship will be awarded to the next runner-up.

Indiana Chapter of the American Works Association Scholarship Date Added: 02/09/2023 


The APWA has established a Mission to promote professional excellence, understanding of and competency and credibility in public works. To fulfill our Mission, the Indiana Chapter of the American Public Works Association is sponsoring a scholarship program for candidates pursuing a degree in related Public Works fields including but not exclusively in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Works Management.  The application period is now open.

ELIGIBILITY:

High School Seniors who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning during the Fall 2023 Semester at the undergraduate level whose major course of study encompasses the fields of Engineering, Public Works Administration, Public Relations, Finance or other programs within the public works field are eligible. Candidates must reside within Indiana. Students may be part- time or full- time at an accredited institution of higher learning; however, candidates must be seeking a degree.

E'ville Iron Street Rods, Ltd Automotive Education Scholarship Date Added: 02/13/2023

This $3000 scholarship is open to seniors enrolled in Auto Body or Auto/Diesel Mechanics classes who plan to continue their education in the automotive area such as mechanics, auto body work, or diesel mechanics.

Knights of Columbus Rockport Council Date Added: 04/25/2023

Knights of Columbus Rockport Council will be awarding a $500 scholarship/award based on Faith, Leadership, and Educational Goals achieved during the student's academic life.  Qualifications for this scholarship are for those who plan to pursue full time academic or vocational education.  Only students who graduate from high school or home school in the current year or its related equivalent may apply.  Applications are excepted between May 1 and May 30.
