Superintendent's Message
2024-2025
Welcome to the South Spencer County School Corporation website. The faculty and staff of the South Spencer County School Corporation are excited to begin a new school year. We are dedicated to educating, motivating, challenging, and serving every student in their quest to learn, achieve, and be successful in every endeavor they pursue. The School Board, administrators, teachers, and staff work together to provide a wide range of programs, instructional practices, and activities that enhance each student’s opportunity to learn and succeed.
The 2024-2025 school year brings a number of new, yet familiar faces to the South Spencer team. We’re excited to welcome back two former Rebels to our leadership team. Mrs. Lori Hermann is our new principal at South Spencer High School and Mr. Trent Martin is our new principal at Luce Elementary. We look forward to their leadership and guidance in creating positive learning environments and opportunities for our students to excel. Mrs. Hermann will also be enhancing our CTE program at the high school. We are actively looking for local businesses to learn more about our CTE program and invite them to work with us to provide South Spencer students with internships, Work Based Learning opportunities, as well as career exploration opportunities. If interested, please contact Mrs. Hermann at the high school. Mr. Martin will continue working with the Science of Reading initiative at Luce, as well as strengthening our curriculum and instructional practices. We also welcome Mr. Joshua Deck as our new Food Service Director. Joshua has hit the ground running and is excited to offer fresh menu options as well as providing nutritious breakfast and lunch meals for all students. Mr. Jeremy Kuester assumes the role of Athletic Director at the high school and middle school. Jeremy is excited to lead our athletic programs and his knowledge of athletics, our community, and our programs will provide our student- athletes with opportunities to succeed in the classroom and on the athletic fields.
It is truly an honor and privilege to begin my third year as your superintendent. I’ve been part of public education or over 30 years and it is my passion. I’m excited to be part of this team and look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure the South Spencer County School Corporation is committed to continual improvement. By doing so we will add to the long history of successes our schools, students, and communities have enjoyed. Rebel pride is real, and we are dedicated to preserving and improving our schools, programs, instructional practices and opportunities for all current and future Rebels. The South Spencer County School Corporation is blessed to have parents and a community that fully supports our goals and efforts to put Kids First. This bond, and sense of family, is strong. By working together and creating a positive environment and community, our families and kids can grow and mature knowing they are important, supported, and loved. I hope you will join the South Spencer County School Corporation team whether you are a student, parent, grand parent, business leader, or a community member.
